~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Robert Earl Walker age 58, of Overland Park, Kansas died December 14, 2015 at his home after his courageous battle with Cancer.
Robert was born January 30, 1957 in Birmingham, Alabama one of four children born to William Earl "Bud" Walker and Fleata Rose (Williams) Walker. At the age of 12 his family moved to Kansas City, KS where Robert grew up and graduated from Turner High School with the class of 1976.
After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in November of 1976 and was honorably discharged in 1977 with the rank of Private 1st Class from Fort Carson, Colorado.
Robert was blessed with three children: Ashlie, Robert Jr. and Rebecca.
He was self-employed most of his adult life doing carpet installation. Robert was a "Free Spirit" and traveled across the States many times. At times his travels were done on foot walking miles and miles. His statement was always the same "I am a Walker, that's what I will do". And he was proud to tell you he walked across the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City.
Robert was a simple man, quiet yet funny, but stubborn as they come. He enjoyed listening to music and Lynyrd Skynyrd was his all-time favorite. He liked to watch NASCAR on TV but would always say it made him dizzy. He loved the outdoors and being with family and friends. He was truly an original "Hippie".
Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his children: Ashlie M. Walker and Jon Ensign of Overland Park, KS, Robert E. Walker Jr., and Rebeca R. Walker both of Kansas City, KS. Three sisters: Rosemary Kruger, Cathy Isabell both of Kansas City, KS and Dyan Walker of Overland Park, KS. Four grandsons: Anthony Riley, Jonus Ensign, Ace Ensign and Xzavier Walker along with many other family members and lifelong friends.
