Clara Loreitia West age 71, of Osawatomie, Kansas died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at her home.

Clara was born December 12, 1944 in Tazewell, Virginia one of four children born to Byrd P. and Pauline (Brewester) Quesenburry. She grew up in Tazewell and graduated from the Tazewell High School in the early sixty’s.

On June 20, 1969 Clara married Denzil West in Kansas City. They became the parents of five children: Marty, Mike, Matt, Melanie and Danny. In 1974 they moved to Osawatomie and called it home from then on. In 2004 after thirty-five years their marriage ended in divorce.

When the children were finally in school Clara went to work outside the home and continued to work from then on. She worked at several places in the area; housekeeping at the Elms and Landmark Motels, the local bowling alley, and cook in the school kitchens for Osawatomie to name a few. But most people knew Clara from the deli at Moon’s IGA where she worked for about fourteen years. Clara was an honest, dependable, hardworking person, and always had a smile for everyone.

Clara was a Mom that learned to roll with the wild ride of raising five children, and four being boys, but all five always knew when Mom meant business.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, she always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Clara cared for her son Mike who became physically disabled for several years until her age and health prevented her from giving him the care he needed. Clara was a women who was always there to help family or friends anytime she could. She will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Survivors include her children: Marty West of Waynesville, MO, Michael West of Louisburg, KS Matt (Chrissy) West of Osawatomie, KS, Melanie Brewer of Paola, KS and Danny (Traci) West of Osawatomie, KS. Eight grandchildren: Corey, Sabrina, Leland, Haley, Samantha, Miranda, Olivia, and Drake, one great grandchild Samantha Athena along with many other family members and a lifetime of friends.
