Earline Wood age 82, of Osawatomie, Kansas died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Vintage Park Assisted Living in Osawatomie.

Earline was born August 1, 1933 in Earle, Arkansas the second of twelve children born to Clarence Everett and Lillian Daisy (Raymond) Martin. She grew up in Earle and attended school in the local school district.

On February 2, 1951 in Parkin, Arkansas Earline was united in marriage to James William Wood. They made their home in Arkansas until about 1959 when they moved to the Kansas City, Kansas area. The family grew throughout the years and Earline became the mother of five children, three sons: Danny, Michael, and Ronnie and two daughters: Connie and Carol. Earline and James marriage ended in divorce in 1969.

Earline worked for several years managing a motel in Kansas City until she moved to Osawatomie in 1977. She then was employed as manager of the Elm’s Motel in Osawatomie for about five years.

Earline was an avid billiards player and shot pool for many years while living in Kansas City. She competed in many tournaments and won or placed in almost all she participated in. Proudly bringing home many impressive trophies and plaques.

She liked to relax while doing her cross-stitch and enjoyed gardening when she could, brightly colored flowers where always her favorite choice. She was one who liked to go camping with friends and family and always liked to fish. But more than anything her true love was family, her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She always had some of them with her. There was never too much of her grandbabies. Earline was a loving grandmother and enjoyed spending as much time with all of her family as she could.

While living in Earl, Arkansas she attended and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Earl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Ronnie Wood, daughter Carol Proffitt and seven siblings: Sonny Martin, Russell Martin, Louise Bounds, Lillian “Checkie” Johnson, Judy Foot, Silvia Duff and Shirley Anglin.

Survivors include her children: Danny (Debbie) Wood of Olathe, KS, Mike (Shirlee) Wood of Osawatomie, and Connie (Rodney) Dunlap of West Memphis, AR, three brothers: T.(Jeanett) Martin, Ray (Pat )Martin, Carol “Digger” (Lucy) Martin, sister Lois Laws, and her numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great, grandchildren along with many other family members and friends.
