Helen Catherine Eble age 93, of Osawatomie, Kansas died June 14, 2016 at North Point Skilled Nursing in Paola, Kansas.

Helen was born August 28, 1922 in Pratt, Kansas the second of two children born to Clyde Virgil and Catherine Anna (Johnson) Horn.

She grew up in Pratt and attended school there, graduating from Pratt High School with the class of 1940. Helen then attended Pratt Jr. College and graduated with the class of 1942.  She went to work as an office clerk at Pratt Army Airfield and later at Denver’s Logan Airfield.

Right after WWII ended she met and married George Alexander Eble, Jr on September 4, 1946 in Pratt. They moved to Manhattan, Kansas where George attended school on a G.I. bill and Helen gave birth to their first son Roger Keith Eble on June 13, 1948.

Helen and George moved several times over the next few years living in LaCygne, KS, Kansas City, MO, Kansas City, KS and Muncy, KS where Helen gave birth to their second son, William Dean Eble on March 30, 1956, later moving to out on 68 Hwy in Paola, KS. While living in Paola Helen attended Baker University and finished her degree graduating in 1968 with a degree in elementary education.  She then taught one year in Prairie Village, KS at the Tomahawk Elementary School.  Then moving to Osawatomie, KS, Helen then taught the 5 ^th grade for nine years in USD 367 Osawatomie, KS. She retired from teaching in 1979 and was awarded Teacher of the Year.

Living in Miami County until her husband George retired in 1985, they moved to Table Rock Lake, Eagle Rock, MO for twenty-two years. Helen and George enjoyed playing bridge and played with friends on a regular bases in Eagle Rock for twenty years.

Helen belonged to Alpha Delta Kappa, Teacher’s Sorority, a member of the Presbyterian Church, Paola while living in Miami County and a member of the Methodist Church while living in Eagle Rock.

She enjoyed spending time with children, and she loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen dearly loved her family more than anything.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents and brother Clyde McDaniel “Mac” Horn.
