Kenneth Allen “Ken” Darner, age 54 of Salida, Colorado, died June 27, 2016 at Penrose Catholic Hospital, Colorado Spring, Colorado.
Ken was born March 2, 1962 in Paola, KS the third of three children born to Kenneth Leo Darner and the late Peggy Lucille DeHart.
Ken grew up in Osawatomie and attended Osawatomie schools. Ken was a great uncle to all his nieces and nephews. Ken would spend special time making his family laugh. Ken could make any serious situation more bearable by his use of humor and his impersonations. Ken was an avid sports fan, true to his teams of the Chiefs, KU basketball and the Royals. During family events Ken could be found in front of the television cheering on his teams.
When outdoors, Ken would be found at the ponds or rivers fishing. While living in Colorado, Ken worked at Cottonwood Hot Springs Resort and spa. Ken took great pride in maintaining the property, painting, building seating areas for guests, and the freshwater trout ponds.
Ken was an excellent painter and repairman. Ken has a great heart and would volunteer his time for those who could not afford repairs of their own.
Ken was preceded in death by his biological mother Peggy DeHart and his brother Kevin Ray Darner.
Ken is survived by his parents Kenneth L. Darner and Donna M. Darner, Lane, KS. three sisters Debra Darner, Osawatomie, KS, Holly Kastler, Lane, KS, and Kendra Brewer, Greeley, KS, one brother Don Burgner, Jr. Salida, Colorado and 12 nieces and nephews along with many great nieces and nephews.
