John Roy Cannon, age 64, was born November 4, 1951 in Paola KS to Kenneth and Ruth (Hayes) Cannon. He died August 18, 2016.John was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, grandparents Roy and Sally Cannon and Hank and Sybil Hayes.
He is survived by a brother, Glen (Lisa Ann) Cannon of Osawatomie, KS, sister, Elaine (late husband, Steve) Childs of Osawatomie, sister, Lisa (Ted) Bartlett of Lane, KS, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
John grew up in Osawatomie, KS and moved to Parsons, KS in 1997.
John enjoyed many vacations with his family, included camping, boating and fishing in the Ozarks, fishing for Northern Pike in Minnesota, pheasant hunting in western KS. John loved fishing and quail hunting with family. He spent many hours helping his dad work on lawnmowers, tractors, car and truck repair. John enjoyed gardening, picking strawberries, and going to church with family. From birthdays to Thanksgiving dinner to Christmas mornings, and 4th of July fireworks, John was the life of the party
John was a participant in Special Olympics and won many medals for running events. He also participated in the Sunbelt Rodeo in southeast KS. John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Osawatomie, KS
John was a gentle soul. He was forgiving and grateful in nature. He was not jealous and forgave easily. He taught us the very most important things in life are not the material things, not the most expensive house or car, but it is the time spent with family and the ones you love.
We are all put on this earth for a purpose. John had a purpose here, a very big task assigned to him. His job was to teach us, by example, how to be humble, kind, loving and forgiving. What an incredibly difficult task he had, teaching all of us to be happy with the small things in life, to love one another unconditionally. John, was perfect in God's eyes for the job.
