Bruce Daniel Brady, age 58, of Osawatomie, Kansas died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at his home. Bruce was born November 5, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri.  He is the youngest of three children born to John Roderick and Betty Lou (Ketchum) Brady. He grew up and attended school in the Shawnee Mission School District. In 1976, Bruce graduated from Shawnee Mission North.

After high school, Bruce attended Fort Hays State University and majored in Animal Science. In 1982, he graduated from Fort Hays and started working for the State of Kansas Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector while living in Western Kansas.

In 1986, Bruce moved to Osawatomie, where he was the fourth generation to live on the Brady farm while working for the Department of Agriculture. He and his mother got into the race horse business for a few years.

Bruce met Debbie Baker in 1985 and after many years of friendship, they were married on June 9, 2010, in the living room of their home due to a torrential rain storm. The weather cleared up and a wonderful reception and dinner was had by all. They made their home at the Brady Farm, aka Happy Brady Acres.  He gained two step children and three step grandchildren.  In early 2014, Bruce retired from the state after 30 years.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting and raising livestock. Bruce’s brother and best friend introduced him to deep sea fishing and they would take a trip to the coast every year. Bruce would hunt turkey and dove when he was younger. He wanted to raise more cattle after retirement but due to health issues was unable.

Bruce was preceded in death by his father and sister Laurel June Brady.

He is survived by his wife Debbie of the home, mother Betty Brady of Mission, Kansas, brother James (Laura) Brady of Eudora, KS , father-in-law Scott Baker, step children, Jared Ford of Fontana, KS and Stephanie Ford- Reed of Paola, KS and three step grandsons Aiden (13), Logan (10), and Eli (1) as well as many other family and friends.
