Carol “Dean” McCready age 82 of Osawatomie, Kansas died Tuesday October 25, 2016 at her home.

Dean was born January 27, 1934 in Independence, Missouri. She was the eldest of five children born to James R. & Effie Bonita (Roberts) McKay. She grew up in the Blue Springs area. She graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1951. She then attended Graceland College for two years.

On May 23, 1954, Dean married Dwain Spradlin. Together the couple had three daughters, Carlee, Susan and Lisa. The family lived in Missouri until 1974 when they moved to Osawatomie. Dwain and Dean bought the Kansas City Star paper route in Osawatomie. Together they delivered the Kansas City Star Newspapers for twenty years. In 1994 they decided to retire and the bought a house in the country and enjoyed their grandchildren. Then in 1996, after 42 years of marriage Dwain passed away.

Two years later Dean married Max McCready on March 9, 1998. She not only gained a husband but she also gained two children John (Charlene) McCready & Margaret (Darrell) Brown and one grandson Daniel McCready. Dean and Max were married for 17 years until 2015 when Max passed away.

Dean was preceded in death by her parents, 1 ^st husband Dwain Spradlin, 2 ^nd husband Max McCready, daughter Carlee Dean Spradlin, Sister Bonnie Uptgrove and brother in-law Tommy Uptgrove and Brother Butchie.

She is survived by her daughters Lisa (Shawn) Bonham of Yates Center, KS & Susan Wilson of St. Petersburg, FL. Four grandchildren: Kelly (Jeremy) Parvin of Daytona Beach, FL, Amy Ashlock of Yates Center, KS, Bethany (Christopher) Campbell of Eureka, KS & Nathaniel Bonham of Yates Center, KS. Six great- grandchildren Bethany Marie, Lucas, Taylor, Alyssa. Kaden and Jack. Two Brothers Jay (Helen) McKay of Pleasant Hill, MO and Pete (Angie) McKay of Tapawingo, MO. Along with nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
