Florence Elizabeth Burgoon age 97 of Osawatomie, Kansas died Tuesday December 20, 2016 at Life Care Center of Osawatomie after an extended battle with cancer.

Florence was born April 3, 1919 in Goodrich, Kansas. She was the eldest of five children born to Jesse Marshall & Grace Minerva (Plummer) Wallace. She grew up in Parker, Kansas.

On May 27, 1940, Florence married Wilber J. “Bud” Burgoon in Ottawa, Kansas. They became the parents of five children and lived in Beagle for many years. Florence was a homemaker most of her life but she also mowed cemeteries at one time.

Her hobbies included playing BINGO and cards. Pitch being the card game she played the most. She cross stitched and painted on pillow cases. Florence was an avid reader. Her favorite author was Louis L'amour but would read anything that she could get her hands on. Florence was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Osawatomie. She was a past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge. She also was a member of the Beagle United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, daughter Delores Jean Windler, parents and four brothers.

Survivors include sons, Buddy (Millie) Burgoon of Beagle, KS, Fred (Eva) Burgoon of Wamego, KS, Jerry (Louise) Burgoon of Linn Valley and Carl (Brenda) Burgoon of Overbrook, KS. Sixteen grandchildren, many great-grandchilren and great great grandchildren.
