James H. Haley age 94 of Osawatomie, Kansas died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Olathe Hospice House.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.
Service will be 10 am Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Paola, Kansas.
Burial will be at Osawatomie Cemetery in Osawatomie, Kansas.

James Hobart Haley age 94 of Osawatomie, Kansas died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Olathe Hospice House.
James was born December 8, 1922 on a farm near Amity, MO. He was the oldest of three children born to Ralph Hobart and Sylvia Ethel (Quarles) Haley. James attended school in Amity, Ogle Grove, and Union Star all in Missouri.
All his young life he worked on his parent’s farm until 1943 when he enlisted in the United States Army. He went to basic training at Camp Howze, Texas and then left to go overseas from Camp Pendelton, CA on May 4, 1944, landing on New Caledonia, then on to Angar to join up with the 81 st Infantry Division. He trained in the Philippines in preparation for war in Japan. His unit landed on the Japanese mainland on November 3, 1945. He was honorably discharged on April 26, 1947. James was a decorated WWII veteran who proudly served his country.
On November 19, 1949, in St. Joseph, Missouri, James was united in marriage to Luella Glenadyne Ginn. They made their home near Fairport, Missouri on the farm where Glenadyne grew up. James and Glenadyne moved their family to Kansas in 1955. They would move several times but eventually settled near Paola, Kansas in 1960. James started working for General Motors in the Olathe Delco battery plant in 1961. In 1982, James and Glenadyne moved to Osawatomie. He continued working for Delco until December of 1986 when he retired after 25 years.
James enjoyed woodworking and taught many of his grandkids how to work with wood. He has loved horses from a very young age and always had an eye for good stock. His attention to detail was not only a big part of his work, but also very important when sharing a story with others. He and Glenadyne helped establish the Miami County 4-H Horse Club. He was a member of the local American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Glenadyne, two sons, David Haley and Daniel Haley and sister Norma Carolyn Steiner.
Survivors include sons Paul Haley and Joel Haley of Paola, KS, Kevin Haley of Dripping Springs, TX , and daughter Ginny Gabbert of Paola, KS, 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 3 great-great. grandchildren and brother Leroy Haley of Maysville, MO. Along with many other family and friends.
