Avis L. Kramer age 86, of Parker, Kansas died Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Olathe Medical Center.

Avis was born December 11, 1931 in Osawatomie, Kansas to Willard Asa and Rosy Mae (Newlan) Smith. She attended Liberty grade school, and graduated from Parker High School with the class of 1949. On March 18, 1950 Avis married Milton Kramer in Paola, Kansas. The couple made their home on the Kramer Farm in Parker.  Together the couple had two children Andrew Mark and Julie Ann.  Avis happily worked on the farm tending to her chickens, running the horses and keeping up with other various farm chores.  Avis enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress and would sew her children’s clothes and also make quilts.  Avis lived on the farm until 2009.

In 1967 when the kids were in school, Avis went to work as a Psych Aide at the Osawatomie State Hospital.  She worked for the state hospital for 29 years and retired as a Licensed Mental Health Technician.  She enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Avis was a member of the Beagle United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

Avis was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Wilma Stifter.

Survivors include her children: Andrew (Cindy) Kramer of Parker, KS, Julie (Curtis) Gibson of Parker, KS. Sister Nada Roush of Louisburg, KS. Grandchildren: Jami (Greg) Turney, Valerie (Nick) Rothwell, Audrey (Dave) Mahurin, Kimberly (Justin) Grooms, Brianne (Masey) Wolfe and 14 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, along with many other family and friends.
