Betty Lee (Troxel) Smith age 95 of Osawatomie, KS died Wednesday November 18, 2020 at her home.
Betty was born November 7, 1925 to Arlie Martin & Lillie Estes Stevenson Troxel. She grew up in Osawatomie and graduated with the Osawatomie High School class of 1944. After graduating, she went to work at the army ammunition plant in DeSoto, KS during World War II. Then she was a seamstress at different sewing factories.
On August 8, 1947, she and Donald Smith were married and became the parents of four sons. In 1965, she returned to the workforce and the Army ammunition plant and was there until 1970. Then in 1974 Betty started working for the Osawatomie State Hospital in the housekeeping department until retiring in 1988. After that she worked two years as a maid for The Elms Motel. Betty also worked at Olathe schools and rest homes in 1973. She also worked at Lil Weippert's laundry for a short period of time. The last place she worked was for Linda James for 3 years. She was a member of the Spring Grove Friends Church and also attended First Baptist Church of Osawatomie.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Donald Smith, sons Dean Leroy Smith, Allen G. Smith and Randall Arlee “Randy” Smith and her parents.
Survivors include, son Mark Lewis Smith of the home, grandchildren Tara Smith Ravenscroft and Logan Randall Worrell and daughter-in-law Julie Weaver. Two step granddaughters Doris Ann Johns and Norma Raper, Two step great grandsons Jason and Matthew Johns, and a foster granddaughter Jill Ann Stevenson.
