Beverly Ann Dennis (Barnett), 79, passed away on August 30, 2024, at North Point Skilled Nursing Facility in Paola, Kansas. She was born on December 1, 1944, to Leo & Helen (Rohrer) Barnett in Paola.
Beverly spent her formative years in Osawatomie, Kansas, graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1962. After high school she worked at Safeway.
Beverly married David Dennis on May 7, 1966, in Paola, Kansas. They lived in Canisteo, New York for 4 years before moving to Osawatomie, Kansas. She then began working at American State Bank and Kenneth R. Johnson Oil Well Supplies, all located in her hometown of Osawatomie. In 1986, she and David purchased Barnett & Son’s Plumbing and Heating owning it until the business was destroyed by fire in March 2002.
Post-retirement, Beverly and her late husband, David cherished their time traveling across the south and southwest in their RV, eventually making Lake Chaparral in Mound City, Kansas, their home.
Beverly is survived by her sisters, Evelyn (Glenn) Camerer and Sonia Sherman; sisters-in-law, Dixie Barnett, Christine Thomas, and Arlene Dennis; nieces, Kresta Sherman and Susan (John) Lynch; and nephews, Shawn (DeAnna) Younkin, Brandon (LaDell) Younkin, and Tracy (Bridgit) Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Leo and Helen Barnett; parents-in-law, David and Ernestine Dennis; brother, Lloyd Barnett; brothers-in-law, Kody Sherman, Clyde Younkin, David Charles Dennis, and Eldon “Pint” Dennis; niece, Alyssa Sherman; and nephew, Jay Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Always and Furever Osawatomie Shelter, an organization close to Beverly’s heart. The Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie, Kansas, is assisting the family with arrangements. Cremation has taken place as per Beverly’s wishes. A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
Beverly will be greatly missed by all who loved her. A special thanks to Chuck Cook, Laura Reynolds and Dwight Terry for their care and friendship to both Beverly and David over the years.
