Bonita Faye Kraus

Bonita Faye Kraus passed away January 31st, 2025. Bonnie was born to Joe Kraus and Alice (Weatherbie) Wheeler on February 20, 1960, in Paola, Kansas.

Bonnie was raised in Lane, Kansas and attended schools in Lane and at Central Heights, graduating with the class of 1978. Bonnie married Rodney Casida at the Lane Methodist Church in December 1979. To this union two daughters were born: Deidra Lorayne and Dena Faye. Their marriage ended in divorce.

Bonnie married James Reeder in May 2002. He passed away October 2021.

Bonnie was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and the KU Jayhawks. She was of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary of Ottawa, Kansas. Bonnie liked puzzles, enjoyed trips to the casino, playing Words with Friends, watching Jeopardy, and loved Pepsi! Bonnie had a quick wit, an infectious laugh, she was good at telling stories, and always had a comeback. Bonnie enjoyed listening to music, she liked 70s Classic Rock and Country. One of her favorite past times was going to Grandma Weatherbie’s house, sitting around the kitchen table with her family, playing cards, and drinking coffee.

Bonnie worked various jobs including Dillard’s Warehouse, People’s National Bank, Silpada, and Anderson County Jail.

Bonnie was proceeded preceded in death by Father and Stepmother, Joe and Sue Kraus. Mother and Stepfather, Alice and Bill Wheeler. Grandparents; Frank and Blanche Weatherbie and Elsie Kraus. Sister, Barbara Wheeler. Cousin, Kenny Weatherbie.

Survivors include two daughters, Deidra Casida and Dena (Chad) Summers. Grandson, Bryce Casida. Granddaughters, Lexi and Kailey Summers. Great-Granddaughter, Kaylin “Peanut.” Sisters, Kathy Kraus, Donna Bowman, Debbie Weiss, and Lynn (Chris) Hutchinson. Brothers, Randy Kraus, Danny Wheeler, David Wheeler, Darren (Katy) Wheeler, Dennis Wheeler, and Kenny (Tonya) Roberts. Aunt, Jo Diane Weatherbie Miller. Uncle, Ron (Jo) Weatherbie. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Memorial Services for Bonnie will be held at 10:00 am on February 22nd, 2025, at the Lane United Methodist Church in Lane, Kansas.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Bonnie Kraus Memorial Fund through Eddy Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie, Kansas.

In honor of Bonnie, please wear KU Jayhawks or Kansas City Chiefs attire.
