Carolyn Jane Servais, age 76, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Olathe Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Carolyn was born on December 29, 1948, in Garnett, Kansas, to Eldon Orn and Marie (Townsley) Giles. She was one of two children. Carolyn graduated from Greeley High School with the class of 1966.
On June 14, 1969, Carolyn married Max Servais in Osawatomie, Kansas. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three daughters: Gena, Misty, and Stephanie.
In her early years, Carolyn worked outside the home at JCPenney in Osawatomie and later at a local nursing home. Once her daughters were born, she embraced her role as a devoted homemaker with heart and grace. Carolyn found joy in the simple things—bowling, BINGO nights, reading, playing solitaire, and crocheting lovingly by hand.
Her faith was a steady presence throughout her life. As a child, she attended the Greeley Methodist Church, and after moving to Osawatomie, became part of the Presbyterian Church community there.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Marie; her brother, Kenny Giles; and her sister-in-law, Mary Giles.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Max Servais of the home; daughters Gena Kastler and husband Brent of Coffeyville, KS, Misty Polley and husband Steve of Osawatomie, KS, and Stephanie Cutburth and William of Osawatomie, KS; eight grandchildren: Trenton and Kali Riley, Paige and Marc Montgomery, Allisun Riley and Noah Cole, Callie and Brendan Fickel, Hunter Schmidt, Madelyn, Macy, and Grant Cutburth; and five great-grandchildren: Meredith and Lillian Riley, Maverick, Adley, and Aspen Montgomery. She also leaves behind extended family members and many dear friends.
Carolyn’s warm heart, sharp wit, and unconditional love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Osawatomie. Family and friends are invited to share in a fellowship meal and time of remembrance as we honor Carolyn’s life, love, and legacy together.
