Charlene Joyce Brunts age 93 of Belton, Missouri, formerly of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away May 12th, 2023 at Beautiful Savior Nursing Home.
Charlene was born April 19th, 1930 in Hewins Kansas. She was the first of six children born to Charlie Cross Henson and Nellie Arnettie (Carey) Henson.
Grew up in various cities as the family followed her father’s job as a pipe liner.
She married Robert Earl Brunts on January 3rd, 1947 in Kansas City, Kansas. They made their home in Osawatomie, where they had two daughters, Roberta and Rebecca.
She was mostly a stay at home mother, but did work as a waitress at the motel café on the 600 block of Main St in Osawatomie, and also Eastgate Restaurant. She occasionally worked as a receptionist at Dr. Wymore’s chiropractic office. She worked as a seamstress, for Mode-O-Day and Estes Casket Company. She sold Amway products and was a big believer in their products. She worked for King Radio, first as a solderer and worked her way up to producing wiring harnesses for aviation in Paola and Ottawa plants. She retired from the Ottawa Plant.
She enjoyed bike riding, chaperoning numerous field trips with the school band. Roller skating, fishing, sewing and baking, and card and board games with her family.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of God international.
Preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert, brothers Charles Ray (Priscilla), Donald Keith (Juanita), Kenneth Eugene and Jerry Dean (Beverly), and sister in law Tanya Henson.
Survivors include her brother Mike, sister in law Vera Henson, daughters Roberta Vest (James) and Rebecca Weller (Raymond), grandchildren Aaron Vest (Nickie), Regina Weller (Steve), and Robert Weller (Chris). Great grandchildren Shylen Vest (Kaylee), Adrianna Vest and Chloe Vest, various nieces and nephews and other family.
