Charles C. Bean age 86 of Osawatomie, KS died Wednesday June 9, 2021 at his home.
Charlie was born April 5, 1935 in Hannah, Oklahoma. He was the fifth of eight children born to Argus and Lula May (Moore) Bean. He grew up around Eufaula, OK where he graduated high school.
After high school, Charlie enlisted into the United States Army for a six year term. He then went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad, that letter became the Union Pacific Railroad. Charlie worked for the railroad until retirement in 1992. He helped at Jones’ Carwash for a short time.
On St. Patrick’s Day 1969, Charlie married Joyce Jones in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They made their home in Osawatomie.
In his free time, Charlie enjoyed hunting birds and deer. He traveled to South Dakota to hunt Pheasant. Charlie earned the nickname “Old Goat” because he had a run in with a goat when he was younger. When he retired, Charlie started gardening. Whatever he grew, Joyce would can for him. He also took care of his grandkids. Charlie was most well-known for sitting near the railroad tracks in Osawatomie selling watermelons and cantaloupe. He and Joyce enjoyed watching their Soap Opera’s. Charlie attended the First Baptist Church of Osawatomie.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Joyce, his son Mark Frazee, his parents, three brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his children Brian (Leslie) Frazee of Fontana, KS Charles Bean and Vickie Delaney both of Eufala, OK, Vicki Stadter of Paola, KS and Cy Chilcote of Osawatomie, KS. Grandchildren Kaylie Frazee, Ron Christner, Kristina Hays, Tara Shields, Amanda Bunyard, Derick Umbarger and Jordan Frazee. Great Grandchildren Austin, Hayden, and Bruce Christner, Josiah McCarty and Annaleigh Frazee. Brother Leon Bean of Eldorado, KS, sisters Ozella “Jack” Storm of Eldorado, KS, Margie Black of Texanna, OK and Euna Jean Alfred of Amarillo, TX. Along with other family and friends.
