Darlene Kay Snyder age 78 of Osawatomie, KS died Monday December 9, 2019 at Miami County Medical Center.
Darlene was born March 1 st 1941 in Greeley, KS. She was the fourth of ten children born to Arthur and Nellie Williams. She grew up in Greeley where she attended school. Graduating with the Greeley High School Class of 1957.
After high school, Darlene started working for a sewing factory in Garnett for three years. On August 27, 1960, Darlene married Kenneth Snyder. Together they had nine children and they made their home in Osawatomie.
Darlene worked for the Osawatomie State Hospital for a short time as a nurse’s aide. She then became a stay at home mom and in home daycare provider. Darlene did in home daycare until her children were all in school. She then went to work for the sewing factory in Paola for over 20 years. She retired in 2015.
Darlene was a wonderful seamstress. She made her children’s clothes when they were growing up. She made her granddaughter’s dress-up clothes. Darlene loved watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her homemade chicken and noodles. Darlene was strong in her faith. She was very active in church when her children were growing up. Darlene attended the Let There be Light Fellowship in Osawatomie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, three sisters, three grandchildren Ashley McFadden, Monica Snyder and Kyle Snyder and two great grandchildren Austin Clover and Ashley Clover.
Survivors include husband of almost 60 years Kenneth of the home, children Cecil Snyder of Lawrence, KS, Tommy (Laura) Snyder of Eudora, KS, Jackie (Lee) Clover of Lawrence, KS, Virginia (Tommy) Mapes of Sweet Springs, MO, Dennis (Evonna) Snyder of LaCygne, KS, Marsha McKinney of Osawatomie, Linda (Lenny) Pearce of Osawatomie, KS, Jason (Dee) Synder of Topeka, KS and Melissa (Paul) Long of Lenexa, KS, twenty- two grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Four brothers Johnny Williams, Larry Williams, Lewis Williams and Charlie Williams and one sister Charlene Henter. Along with other family and friends.
