Darrell Leon Blume, age 85, of Osawatomie, KS, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

Darrell was born on November 29, 1939, in Lamar, CO, the third of five children born to Raymond Roland and Gladys S. (Rabe) Blume. He grew up in Lamar, where he graduated from high school. Seeking new opportunities, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he met the love of his life, Mary Louise Boyer. After a brief but cherished courtship, Darrell and Mary married in the home of Mary’s parents. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two children, Nathan and Michelle.

Darrell dedicated 30 years of his career to Roadway Trucking and Teamster Local #41 , beginning in 1971. Prior to that, he worked at Hudson Oil and other oil companies. Even while working full-time, he took on various side jobs, always demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. Around 2001, Darrell retired and began enjoying the freedom to pursue his passions.

Darrell had a love for travel, and he and Mary would often take spontaneous trips to Colorado, sometimes just for dinner before heading back home. In their retirement, they spent much of their time traveling and living in their RV. When not on the road, Darrell could be found in his garage, tinkering with old cars and restoring them to their former glory.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Darrell’s family was always at the heart of everything he did. He was a proud member of the Kaiser Frazier Club, the Good Sam Camping Club, and the Car Club in Lamar, CO.
