David Jay Hahn Sr was born on August 26, 1958, in Garnett, Kansas to Jay W and Idona M (Fouts) Hahn. He was the oldest of four children. David was a lifelong resident of Osawatomie, Kansas. David graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1976. On September 4, 1981, David was united in marriage to Phyllis D. (Bachman) Hahn, in Osawatomie, where they made their home. Together they raised three children, Maria K. Worrell, Marcella D. Jackson, and David J. Hahn Jr. on the family farm where they raised dairy cattle and pigs for many years. David enjoyed working with his hands as a heavy truck mechanic at Walmart Distribution Center until he had to stop working in 2017. Prior to this, he was employed with Coca-Cola for many years, Shasta, an independent driver for Cutting Edge, and sold real estate with Crown Realty. He enjoyed visiting with people as he sold insurance with American General, traveling with Uncle Kenneth on jobs when they worked for Skouse and transporting patients with Apple Bus. David was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed watching Cheifs play, spending time with grandchildren, watching Mash and westerns on tv, and playing the guitar.
David was preceded in death by his parents Jay W. and Idona M. Hahn, wife Phyllis D. Hahn, sister Denise Waln. He leaves behind two daughters Maria Worrell of Paola, Marcella Jackson (Chris) of Osawatomie, one son David J. Hahn Jr. (Sunni) of Granite, Ok. 8 grandchildren: Bell and Josie Worrell, Dakota, CJ, and Cooper Jackson, Ian and Eric Shelton, and Hadlie Hahn. 3 great-grandchildren: Andrew Davis, Phoenix, and Penelope Hamilton.
He is also survived by two brothers Mike Hahn (Shelby) of Netawaka, Ks. and Mark Hahn of Osawatomie, 3 brother-in-law Steve Waln, Billy Butler Sr. (Tammy) of Osawatomie, and Pat Butler of Pueblo, Colorado, and 3 sister-in-laws Brenda Bachman of Osawatomie, Anjennette (AJ) Adlong (Kenneth) of Hondo, TX., and Erin Slass (Jim) of Pratt, Ks. He will also be missed and loved by nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the American Heart Association.
