Delbert Owens.. Age 72

Delbert Owens age 72 of Osawatomie, KS died Sunday January 23, 2022 at Olathe Medical Center.

Delbert was born August 21, 1949 in Kansas City, KS. He was the fifth of eight children born to Frank M. and Corinne V. (Cox) Owens. He grew up in Tonganoxie, KS where he attended school and graduated with the class of 1969.

After high school, Delbert went into the workforce. He started by managing a gas station. Then went into construction as a truck driver. He worked for Heartland Construction in Lawrence, KS until 2009 when he retired.

Delbert and Detta Marie Cox were united in marriage on July 1, 1971. Together the couple had three daughters, Jennifer, Amanda and Detta. They made their home in Osawatomie.

In his spare time, Delbert enjoyed fishing, playing videogames and camping. He watched the Kansas City Chiefs and WWE wrestling. When he was younger, Delbert enjoyed bowling and was in a bowling league. He was very loved by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Detta, daughter Detta, his parents, his brothers Frank and Steven Owens and his sisters Sharon K Owens and Carol Frye.

Survivors include his daughters Jennifer Owens of Gladstone, MO, and Amanda Owens (Gabe Davis) of Mapleton, KS. Seven grandchildren; Makenna, Arianna and Hailey Owens, Kristan Reynolds (Matt), Amanda Robinson, Danielle Kinderknecht (hoot), Seth Owens Bryson and Thaddeus Kinderknecht, eleven great grandchildren; Emmaleigh, Zane, Emilie, Zianna, Sophie, Detta, Zaydin, Carly, Zebaddiah, Chase and Riley. Two brothers; Raymond Owens and Russell Owens and one sister Wilma Beal. Along with other family and friends.
