Donald Lee Lilleston age 84 of Paola, Kansas died Saturday January 30, 2021 at his home.
Don was born February 1, 1936 in Westwood, KS. He was the 14th of 17 children born in the blended family to William and Cordia (Byerly) Lilleston. Don grew up in Johnson County and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School.
After high school, Don began working for Rainbow Nursery and then for Manor Baking Company. He then enlisted into the United States Army. Don served his country for four years and was honorably discharged. He returned to work for Manor Baking Company, retiring in 1992 after more than 40 years of loyal service.
On October 14, 1983, Don married Mary Lynne Parks in Lenexa, KS. The couple lived in Olathe until 1992, when they moved to their home in Paola, KS. Don and Lynne shared a love for Ham Radio, participating in a local ham radio club.
Don loved to garden. He and Lynne would plant a huge garden every year. They canned the vegetables and would also share with family and friends. In his younger days, Don enjoyed hotrods and collecting cars. He also loved photography and old cameras.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Lynne, his parents, brothers and sisters and a step son Stan Parks.
Survivors include James (Karen) Lilleston of Overland Park, KS and Robin Chevalier of Kansas City, MO. step children Gene (Linda) Parks of Palo, IA, Joyce Bodine of Phoenix, AZ and Caryle Parks of Olathe, KS. Grandchildren Kelsey Lilleston, Conner Lilleston, Lucas Chevalier, Landon Chevalier, Jeff (Susan) Parks, Mark (Stephanie) Parks, and Chad Parks, great granddaughter Gabriella Banks, step great grandchildren Ella Marie Parks, Jeffrey Parks and Conner Parks. Brother Marvin Lilleston of Raytown, MO, sisters Dorothy Dinwiddie of Tampa, FL and Shirley Rinehart of Kansas City, KS. Along with other family and friends. He will be missed dearly. We were truly blessed.
