Dorothy Bernice Culbertson age 71 of Ottawa, KS died Thursday October 4, 2018 at Baldwin City Health and Rehab.

Dorothy was born November 24, 1946 in Kansas City, KS. She was the seventh of eleven children born to Cecil Curtis and Martha Camilla (Ragland) Gray.  She grew up in Fontana, KS where she attended school. Dorothy graduated from Fontana High School with the class of 1965.

After high school, Dorothy married Leland Culbertson in Fontana, KS on May 20, 1965. Together the couple had three children Leland Jr, Wayne and Roberta. They made their home in Fontana.

Dorothy worked for King Radio for many years. She started in Olathe, KS. Then moved to the Paola location until transferring to the Ottawa location. Dorothy worked there until they moved to Lawrence and then decided to try something new. She then went to work for Dillard’s warehouse on the production line. Dorothy worked for Dillard’s for over 5 years until she retired in 2008.

Her hobbies include reading and playing on the computer. Dorothy read Christian Romance and Murder mystery books. When her children were young she attended the Assembly of God Church in Osawatomie.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leland Sr., her parents, brothers Andy Gray, James Gray, Randall Gray and Daniel Gray and sisters Elizabeth Williamson and Mary Reynolds.

Survivors include children Leland Culbertson Jr. of Grandview, MO, Wayne Culbertson of Osawatomie, KS and Roberta Garcia of Osawatomie, KS. Step- sons Robert Culbertson of California, David Culbertson and Charles Culbertson of Lane, KS.  Brother David Gray of McLouth, KS, sisters Julia Lee of Wellsville, KS, BeeAnn Forshay of Olathe, KS and Laura Johnson of Ottawa, KS. Sixteen grandchildren Bryan, Greg, Brandon, Blaine, Kristy, Aubrey, Cory, Amanda, Christopher, Tamra, Brandie, Michael, Deserie, Angela, Michelle and Laura Lee and two great grandchildren Madelyn and MaKenna. Along with other family and many friends.
