Dorothy Lee was born May 14th 1925 in LaCygne. She was the oldest of two born to Clyde M and Eva L (Burgess) Russell. Dorothy grew up and attended school in Osawatomie graduating proudly with the Class of 1943.
After high school, Dorothy went to work at KU Medical Center as a CNA. She then went to work at Agnes Nursing Home. Then in 1974 she really enjoyed her passion for reading and became first the children's librarian then ended up being appointed the head librarian in January of 1984 at Osawatomie Public Library and continued to work there until her retirement in 2004.
Dorothy married Oakley James "Jim" Wallace. Together the couple had two daughters Jamie and Cheryl and made their home in Osawatomie. The marriage later ended. Dorothy later married Lanston "Red" Winters. Together they had one daughter Tracy. The marriage later ended. Then she met Frank Ingram and they later married for years and enjoyed traveling and especially gardening and canning. After Frank's passing she met and married Don Scott.
Through the years in Dorothy's free time she enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She always looked forward to alumni and attended almost every year until she wasn't able. Dorothy also loved to travel South for the winters and to Texas and Mexico. Also Dorothy was an avid casino customer and went on numerous occasions. Dorothy never hesitated to tell you what she thought regardless of the situation, even if it was an eye roll. She was also always up for a game of pitch and took it very seriously. She never turned away a stray cat and always fed them and even had houses made for them to keep warm in the colder weather. Dorothy did enjoy family and always looked forward to Christmas and having vegetable soup. She definitely had a knack for shopping and getting good deals and often attended sales and auctions in the area.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, brother Marvin Russell, son-in-law Jesse Bolling II, grandson Jesse Bolling III, and husbands Frank Ingram and Don Scott.
