Eva May Bartlett

October 5, 1933 — April 10, 2023

Eva May Bartlett age 89 of Paola, KS died Monday April 10, 2023 at her home.

Eva was born October 5, 1933 in LaCygne, KS. She was the second of nine children born to Samuel and Martha (Krueger) Tinsley. She attended Hillsdale and LaCygne schools.

After school, Eva worked odd jobs until she started with the Hercules Powder Plant (Sunflower Ammunition) in DeSoto. That is where she met Charles Edward Bartlett. They married March 19, 1954 in Osawatomie, KS. Together the couple had three sons; Charles L., Terry R. and David A. They made their home in Spring Hill before moving to Paola.

Eva worked at the Smith’s Sewing factory in Paola for a short time. She then started the
Green Acres Ceramics business out of her home and taught classes to many people over the years. Eva then went to work at King Louie Pro Fit Cap in Paola. She then went to work for Sandy’s Bridal in Paola as a seamstress. She retired from Sandy’s Bridal.

In her free time, Eva enjoyed sewing. She would fix things for people and she would also make customized garments. Eva always kept busy on the farm with chores and things. Her and Charles would plant a big garden every year and canned the products of their garden.  Eva was known as “Mom” to more than just her sons. She was always so sweet and welcoming to everyone. She enjoyed traveling and was always on the go.

She was very active in organizations. Eva was a member of the VFW Aux, American Legion Aux, and The Rebecca’s Lodge; where she served as Noble Grand; and Missouri Pacific Aux. Eva was a non-playing member of the KS Old Time Fiddlers & Pickers. She and Charles were members of the Twin River Camping Club and the Miami County Airport Association. She was a past member of the Plum Creek United Methodist Church. Eva was most recently active in the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles E., parents, brothers; Joseph Tinsley and Levi Tinsley and sisters; Mary Miller, Martha Lee, and Grace Doudna.

Survivors include: sons, Charles L. Bartlett of the home, Terry A Bartlett of Olathe, KS and David A. Bartlett of Raymore, MO. Three sisters; Betty Abell, Irene Wise, and Marjorie Keeling. Five grandchildren Sarah McEnaney, Jill Dahlstrom, Brian Bartlett, Benjamin Bartlett and Madelyn Bartlett. Seven great grandchildren. Along with other family and friends.
