Evelyn "Evie" Louise Kimes ... Age 71

Evelyn "Evie" Kimes age 71, of Parker, Kansas died Monday, March 5, 2018 at Olathe Medical Center.

Evelyn was born February 22, 1947 in Paola, Kansas to Charles Wildar and Annabell Mae (Bagshaw) Ringey. The family moved around some in Kansas and Oklahoma before settling in Torrance, California in 1953.  Evie graduated from West High with the class of 1965 in Torrance. She attended college at El Camino Community College in Torrance, California.  Evie worked primarily as a bookkeeper for various people over the years and was a sales manager at Broadway Department Store in California.

On April 26, 1969, Evelyn married Jay Kimes at St. James Church in Redondo Beach, California. The couple was blessed with two children: Eric and Andrea.  Evelyn loved her family and cared for them without abandon.  The family took many camping trips where memories were made fishing for anything that was biting and spending time in the outdoors.  She was very involved in all of the kids’ activities throughout the years and was even a Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troop.  She enjoyed sewing and was known to make the kids matching outfits and taking pictures.  She also enjoyed cooking. New Year’s Day was always complete with Evie’s prime rib and cabbage with cheese dinner.  Her hobbies included reading any number of historical romance novels and gardening.  She also loved to ride with Jay on their trike.  They were members of the BTW Trike Club and enjoyed their many rides together which created everlasting memories for them both.

Evie and Jay moved back to Kansas in 2012.  She became active with the Loyal Workers Group and Parker United Methodist Church women’s bible study group.

Evie was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Jay Kimes; one son, Eric J. Kimes of Lakewood, CA; one daughter, Andrea M. Kimes of Long Beach, CA; one brother, Charles W. Ringey of Parker, KS; one sister, Alice M. Howard of LaCygne, KS along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other family and friends that she held dear to her heart.
