A celebration of life has been planned for Friday January 18, 2019 from 4-6 pm in the Mac Steele Gymnasium at the Osawatomie High School.

Memorials can be made to the Frank Chavez Memorial Fund that is set up at First Option Bank.

Francisco “Frank” Tereso Chavez, son of the late Francisco R. Chavez and Ramon Chavez was born on October 3, 1955 in Reno County, Kansas. Frank departed this earthly life on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Olathe Medical Center surrounded by family and loved ones.

Frank attended Osawatomie High School and graduated in May of 1974. After high school, Frank enlisted in the Marines and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Order of the Elks in Osawatomie. Many knew Frank from his time as a Custodian at Osawatomie High School and his long-time employment at the Cow Palace in Osawatomie. Frank was an avid fisherman and was known for his excellent barbeque. Due to Frank’s kindness and compassion for others, he was loved by many and his charitable heart and loving nature will live on in the hearts of those who knew Frank.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Ramon Chavez, his son, Larry L. Vaughn, his sisters, Sarailla Chavez and Teresa Chavez, his brothers, Johnny Chavez and Phillip Chavez, his foster parents, Ray and Lucy Worrell, and his foster brother, Dale Worrell.

Frank will be remembered in the hearts of those that survive him: his grandson, Andrew Cline and Andrew’s mother, Amanda Cline, his siblings, Mary Ayala, Mark Chavez, Jessie Cooke, Julian Chavez, Mercedes Logue, and Pelony Chavez, his foster brother, David Worrell, his Foster Sister-In-Law, Rosalie Worrell, and many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
