George D. Jackson age 79 of Paola, KS died Monday January 30, 2023 at Olathe Medical Center.
George was born November 6, 1943 in rural Franklin County. He was one of three born to Lewis C. Jackson and Grace (Bledsoe) Jackson. The family moved to Oregon where George attended Redmond schools. He then joined the United States Airforce. While in the military, George was a mechanic.
On October 30, 1964, George was honorably discharged. He then began working as a nurse’s aide where he met Connie Jo Debrick. Together the couple had four children; Sonya, James, Robert and Scott.
George worked as a truck driver and hauled gun powder for the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in DeSoto, Kansas. He was an active member of the Jacee’s Club, Part time Sheriff’s reserve officer. George was a member of the Miami County Civil Defense Storm watcher. In his later went back to college and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and was a case manager for Johnson County for a short time.
He was preceded in death by an infant son James, his parents, sister Thelma and both wives Connie and Margrette.
Survivors include daughter Sonya (Pat McCawley), sons; Robert (Tracy) Jackson and Scott Jackson. 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Along with other family and friends. George will be missed by many.
