Gloria Marie Folsom, 74, of Paola passed away peacefully on April 13th, 2023 at Menorah Medical Center.
Gloria was born in Paola Kansas on May 30th 1948 of Freda and Donald Koontz Sr. Raised in Parker, she attended Parker High School where she met the love of her life, William, Bill, Folsom. They were married on June 2nd, 1967 in Paola. The two moved to Kansas City, Kansas for a brief time, traveled together to Pittsburgh while Bill finished his studies, and then ultimately resided in Paola.
Gloria grew up the middle child with a sibling 10 years older and 10 years younger than her. Arlene, Gloria, and Don grew up on a farm in a small rural community. They were taught many life skills and passions including work with hunting dogs, horses, and gardening.
Gloria began working at Osawatomie State Hospital where she loved her job as a Supply Secretary for nearly 20 years. When she retired from the State Hospital, Gloria went on to occupy her time and worked at the Osawatomie Public Library. Her hobbies included a variety of creative outlets such as sewing and embroidery, cooking, playing piano, Bible Study, and gardening. Gloria had an overwhelming passion for Bluegrass Music and Precious Moments Displays. Throughout her years she also always found a way to include her canine family members.
Gloria and Bill went on to have three beautiful children and six grandchildren. Gloria had such a deep love for those around her and it was felt by all the family and friends around her. Gloria was the first to volunteer for babysitting, field trips, outdoor activities, and spending time with her friends and family. Gloria also enjoyed traveling to various places like Colorado, Montana, Eureka Springs, and wherever else she could convince her family to go.
Gloria was a god fearing woman who had a strong faith. She was dedicated to the church and a true believer of our Savior. She attended several churches in her life from Fontana Christian Church to Paola Christian Church, and most recently attending Spring Hill Baptist Church. She volunteered where she could as a nursery attendant, piano player, and other necessary roles.
Gloria is survived by her beloved husband Bill of Paola, KS, her three children, Mike Folsom (Loretta) of Paola, Rusty Folsom (Danielle) of Louisburg and Amanda Story (David) of Greely. Her grandchildren Madison, Cara, Skyler, Lily, and Austin, her older sister Arlene Folks of Osawatomie, and her younger brother Don Koontz Jr (Robin) of Hiawatha. She is also survived by a multitude of loving cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, and family members.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Freda and Donald Koontz Sr, her grandson Dakota Rommelfanger, and several other loved friends and family members.
