Gwendolen Avis “Gwen” Williamson age 96 of Osawatomie, KS died Wednesday October 4, 2017 at Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, KS.
Gwen was born December 4, 1920 in Osawatomie, KS. She was the elder of two daughters born to Ernest C. and Mattie B. (Ensle) Morgan. She grew up and attended school in Osawatomie. When she was sixteen she met Floyd Ernest Williamson. They were united in marriage on August 10, 1937 in Mound City, Kansas. They made their home in the Osawatomie area. Together the couple had two children, Darrell and Saundra.
Most of her life, Gwen was a homemaker. When the kids were younger they were in 4-H and she helped them with their projects. When they were out of the house, Gwen worked part time in the dietary department at the Osawatomie State Hospital. Her whole life was spent in Osawatomie area. She and Floyd bought the farm that he grew-up on. For a short time Floyd and Gwen were Caregivers.
Gwen loved crossword puzzles. She sewed, played cards and games with her friends and family. Gwen liked to listen to country and bluegrass music. When they were younger Floyd and Gwen would take yearly trips to Colorado to see the mountains. They loved going to Branson, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Ernestine Fife.
Survivors include her husband of 80 years Floyd of the home, son Darrell (Barbara) Williamson of Spring Hill, KS and daughter Saundra (Jim) Crowl of Osawatomie, KS, Ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Along with other family and friends.
