On Tuesday March 12, 2024 Harriett Grace Stewart passed away at the age of 83. Her life was built on a foundation of faith, love, and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, and friend. She was known for her kind, caring, and generous spirit. She was equally known for her impeccable green thumb and her love of cooking. She also had a wonderful sense of humor and a welcoming smile.
Harriett was born on November 4, 1940 in Dixon, Missouri to Harry and Grace Jordan and was one of seven children. After graduating Vienna High School in 1959 she moved to Osawatomie and began her 30 year career as a Licensed Mental Health Technician at the Osawatomie State Hospital. There she met Gene Stewart and the two were married on July 10, 1960. Together they had three children, Pam, Becky and Jeff. Due to the strain of working so much, their marriage ended in divorce.
After years apart and in an incredible twist of fate, the two were re-married on May 22, 1999. Their second marriage was full of love, devotion to family, church and traveling. Her happiest moments were when she was spending time with her family. She was a devout Christian and attended Faith Baptist Church and she loved her church family. She was also passionate about the Kansas Jayhawk basketball team and rarely missed a game.
During the last few years of her life, Harriett made her home at Vintage Park Assisted Living Community in Osawatomie. These years were filled with friends, laughter, and a lot of fun. The amazing staff at Vintage Park made her feel safe and loved. It was a joy watching her live her life to the fullest while at Vintage Park.
