Ileta Viola Armstrong age 84 of Paola, KS died Friday, February 14, 2020 at Lifecare Center of Osawatomie.

Ileta was born April 7, 1935 in Flory, Missouri. She was the youngest of three born to William Lee & Reba Lucille (Hagins) Evans. She grew up around Lamar, MO.

At the age of 14, Ileta married Fred John Armstrong Jr in Kansas City, MO on January 23, 1950. They made their home in various places around the Kansas City area until 1980 when they moved to Paola, Kansas. Together the couple had two children, Lois Christine and Gary Wayne.

Ileta worked at Jen-Sal veterinary medicine company and the Internal Revenue Service. Most of her life though she worked as a homemaker.

In her free time, Ileta loved playing volleyball and quilting. She was a wonderful cook. Ileta was known for her chocolate chip cookies and strawberry shortcake. She could cook a full meal with what she had and quickly. Ileta played piano for her church for a number of years. Her favorite colors were turquoise and purple. She was a member of the Paola Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Gary Wayne Armstrong, siblings Olan William “Chuck” Evans and Fernitta Hamby.

Survivors include husband of 70 years, Fred of the home, daughter Lois Christine (Gary Lee) Yackle of Fontana, KS, five grandchildren Christopher (Christy Lewis) Yackle, Ileta Stemrich, Michael (Trish) Armstrong, Jeffrey Armstrong and Kathleen (Jeremy) Deason, ten great grandchildren; Daniel, Dahana, Bryar, Ashtin, Kaiden, Maysen, Ethan, Jack, Kelly and Freddie. Along with other family and friends.
