James Clifford “J.C.” Haas, 69, of Osawatomie, KS died Monday July 22, 2019 at Louisburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation following a brief illness.

J.C. was born January 21, 1950 in Paola, KS to Herschel Edwin and Agnes Katherine (Loch) Haas.  He was the youngest of three boys and grew up in Parker, KS,  graduating from Parker High School.

After high school, J.C. enlisted in the United States Airforce and was stationed in Dover, Delaware.  During his enlistment, he went to auto body school.  After he was discharged, he worked for the City of Osawatomie on a line crew and also was a volunteer with the fire department.

On March 16, 1971, J.C. married Susan Sinclair.  Together the couple had three boys, Brock, Brandon and Bryce, raising them in Osawatomie.  Although they would later divorce, these were wonderful times for J.C, enjoying playing baseball with his boys.  They would work on pitching for hours at a time.

J.C. started his career in auto body working at Midtown Auto Body and later opened his own shop called JC’s Carr Shop in Osawatomie.  After 7 years of running his own shop, he went to work for Astro & Guidon, manufacturing fiberglass tops.  J.C. helped build one of the first molds for Jeep hard tops.  He finished his working career with the maintenance department at a nursing home and drove a bus for Tri-Ko.  In 2017, J.C. retired.

J.C. was a member of the Osawatomie First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents.  Survivors include sons, Brock (Christa) Haas of Gardner, KS, Brandon Haas of Osawatomie, KS and Bryce (Maria) Haas of Overland Park, KS, brothers Larry Haas of La Cygne, KS, Tony Haas of Emporia, KS, and five grandchildren Zoe, Bru, Brylan, Nolan and Landon.
