James Eugene Johns... Age 83

James Eugene Johns age 83 of Lane, KS passed away Friday December 23, 2022 at Rock Creek of Ottawa.

James was born January 26, 1939 in Osawatomie, KS. He was one of eight born to James Henry and Millie (Sharp) Johns. He grew up in Osawatomie and graduated with the Class of 1957.

After high school, James worked construction and roofed with his brother. He then started his career with Bendix which is now known as Honey Well. James worked his way from a sweeper to a machinist and then in 2006 after 43 years he retired as an inspector.

In 1959, James married Myra R. Hurley. To this union came three sons, James J., Jeff and Jay Michael.

James was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. James was in an archery league with some of his co- workers from Honey Well. He was an avid sports fan. James loved the Kansas City Chiefs, especially Patrick Mahomes, and the University of Kansas Jayhawks. When his grandchildren were younger he made as many of their games as he could. James was the best father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his son Jay Michael “Mike” Johns, his parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include two sons; James “Jim” Johns and Jeff Johns, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Nephews; Jim Bob Johns, Jack David Johns, Richard Troxel, Fred Troxel and Chris Stoner, nieces Diana Cox , Rose Gilbeau and Millie. Along with other nieces and nephews and other family.
