James Allen “Jim” Morrison age 71 of Osawatomie, KS died Friday February 19, 2021 at University of Kansas Medical Center.
Jim was born February 14, 1950 in Paola, KS. He was the youngest of three born to Clarence and Bernice (Conklin) Morrison. Jim grew up in Parker where he attended school. Graduating with the Parker High School Class of 1968.
After high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged after 6 years of service.
Jim held some welding positions before going to work for the Osawatomie State Hospital. It was there he met Helen Purvis while both employed at OSH. They were married June 30, 1973 in Parker, KS. He became the father of three children Kimberly, James “Jai” and Ashley. The marriage later ended in divorce.
In 1977, Jim went to work at the JCPenny’s warehouse in Lenexa, KS. He worked in the maintenance department. Then in 2012, Jim retired after 35 years.
Jim enjoyed playing online poker, reading on his porch and drinking coffee. He liked working on and restoring his truck. When his kids were younger they would go camping. Jim’s favorite thing was his grandchildren, biological and adopted. He attended all of their events. He was Papa Jim to many. He was also a member of the Elks.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his children; Kimberly Bailey of Sulphur Springs, TX, James “Jai” Morrison of Bullhead City, AZ and Ashley Morrison of Osawatomie, KS; brother Ronald Morrison of Phoenix, AZ and sister Linda Williamson of Gardner, KS; six grandchildren, Brianna Estes, Lane Morrison, Taylor Morrison, Sierra Morrison, Emma Morrison and Lilly Morrison and five great grandchildren. Along with other family and many friends.
