Jere Lee Carlton, age 75, of Osawatomie, KS, passed away surrounded by loved ones, on the morning of February 21, 2024. Jere was born in Harrison, AR to Kirby and Clara Mae (Mathis) Carlton on July 13, 1948. She was the oldest of five siblings: Janice, JoAnne, Jayne, and Jon. The family relocated to Missouri where she graduated from Belton High School in Belton, MO in 1966. After graduation, she married and had two daughters, Justina and Kimberly.
Jere prided herself in being a mom and a grandma and was always there for her family. She will be remembered for her strength and the love that she showed to her family, but also her sharp sense of humor and her perfectly painted nails. In her spare time, she loved crossword puzzles, watching HGTV, and drinking a warm cup of coffee.
Jere was preceded in death by her parents, Kirby and Clara Mae; her sister, Janice Carlton; her daughter, Justina (Stroman) Pinkerton; and her great-granddaughter, Zadi Swearingen.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Stroman) Padgett; grandchildren, Shelbi Swearingen, Alysa (Stuart) Swearingen-Sneath, Caleb (Caitlin) Padgett, Joseph Swearingen, Ashley Padgett, and Natalee Pinkerton; great-grandchildren, Knox Padgett and Elowen Sneath; sisters, Jayne Carlton, JoAnne May; and brother, Jon Carlton; along with other friends and family.
