Joann Evans... Age 72

JoAnn Evans age 72 of Spring Hill, KS died Tuesday September 28, 2021 at Overland Park Regional.

JoAnn was born January 7, 1949 in Paola, KS. She was the eldest of four born to Wayne Eugene and Phyllis Ruth (Bachman) Henness. She grew up in Osawatomie, graduating with the class of 1967.

After high school, JoAnn worked for King Radio and then went to college to be a licensed practical nurse. She then went to work for Lifecare Center of Osawatomie and then Spring Hill Care and Rehabilitation Center for a number of years. Then JoAnn started working for Dillard’s in Quality Control until her retirement around the age of 63.

In May of 1971, JoAnn and Michael Evans were united in marriage in Osawatomie, Kansas. Together they had two children, Christine and Andrew. They made their home in Spring Hill, KS.

JoAnn enjoyed going to craft shows, reading and camping. Her favorite color was purple. JoAnn liked to cook and was known for her baked beans. Her favorite thing was spending time with her kids, grandkids and family. JoAnn was very proud of her grandkids. They are both currently attending K-State and she was proud to be a K-State grandma.  Also JoAnn was always the one to make everyone laugh when she was around her family and friends.  People always knew she could make them laugh, and she was always singing and dancing to all of her favorite Oldies.  JoAnn was a member of the St. Philip Neri Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband Mike of the home, daughter Christine (Lonnie) Gulley of Spring Hill, KS and son Andrew Evans of Spring Hill, KS. Two grandchildren; Nicholas Gulley and Brianna Gulley. Brothers David Henness, Randy Henness and sister Beth Wuellner all of Osawatomie, KS. Along with many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
