Johnny Joshua "Jay" Kimes Ii.... Age 73

Johnny Joshua “Jay” Kimes II age 73 of Long Beach, CA died Friday November 27, 2020 at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System

Jay was born February 4, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN. He was the eldest of four children born to Johnny Joshua I and Frances (Logan) Kimes. Jay grew up in Torrance, California. Graduating from West High with the class of 1965.

In 1966, Jay enlisted into the United States Army. After serving his country for four years he was honorably discharged in 1969. He then went to college and majored in Photography.

On April 26, 1969, Jay and Evelyn "Evie" Ringey were married at St. James Church in Redondo Beach, California. The couple was blessed with two children: Eric and Andrea.

Jay worked as a meat cutter for Luckey’s for 16 years before they went out of business. He then became a truck driver. At first he was over the road and then he worked for a local company.

In his free time, Jay enjoyed bowling, hunting, and archery. He also loved to ride with Evie on their trike.  They were members of the BTW Trike Club and enjoyed their many rides together which created everlasting memories for them both. In his later years, Jay loved painting.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Evelyn and his parents.

Survivors include one son, Eric J. Kimes of Lakewood, CA; one daughter, Andrea M. Kimes of Long Beach, CA; one brother Ronald Kimes and one sister Joyce Carroll along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other family and friends.
