Joyce Adeleen Pennock age 87 of Osawatomie, KS died Sunday December 12, 2021 at Olathe Hospice House.
Joyce was born December 19, 1933 in Osawatomie, KS. She was the youngest of six born to William Oscar and Velcie (Angleton) Heckart. Joyce grew up in Osawatomie where she attended school, graduating with the Osawatomie High School Class of 1951.
Right out of high school, Joyce and Chester C. Pennock were united in marriage on August 21, 1951. They made their home in Osawatomie. Together they had three children, Chester, Bob and Chris. Joyce stayed at home with the kids until they were all in school. She then went into the work force as a teller at the 1 st Federal Savings and Loans. Joyce worked until 1980, when Chester passed away.
In her free time, Joyce enjoyed going to the boats and casinos. Her family was her world. She never missed an activity of her children or grandchildren. In 1995, Joyce and Fred Matney got reacquainted and spent the next 26 years enjoying each other’s company and making memories with their families. Joyce was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Osawatomie and was a member of the Delta Epsilon Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chester Pennock, her parents, brothers Charles “Chic” Heckart and William “Billy” Heckart, sisters Helen Annis, Lucille Livingston and Georgetta Dickey.
Survivors include her children, Chester (Susan) Pennock of Charleston, SC, Bob (Kristy) Pennock of Waxahachie, TX and Chris (Randy) Newport of Osawatomie, KS. Twelve grandchildren; Andrea Pennock, Chester “CJ” (Ally) Pennock, Robert “Robbie” Pennock, Maddy Pennock, MaryLib Pennock, Erin (David) Lopez, Kelly (Craig) Harper, Nathan Pennock, Stephanie (Jon) Holmes, Jillie (Devon) Powell, Katie (Jack) Sampel and Tess Newport and seventeen great grandchildren. Along with nieces, nephews and other family.
