Judith Ellen Cole age 78 of Osawatomie, KS died Friday September 28, 2018 at Life Care Center of Osawatomie.

Judy was born April 12, 1940 in her grandparent’s house in Lane, KS. She was the second of six children born to Merle Edward “Mike” and Helen Delores (Edwards) Cole.  She grew up in the Miami and Franklin County area. She attended grade school in Beagle, Union Valley and Glendale. Then in the fifth grade she started school in Lane. She graduated in 1958 from Lane High School.

After high school, Judy worked for a short time at the Osawatomie State Hospital. She then married and had four children Rhonda, Trish, Lisa and Randall. The marriage later ended.

Judy worked various jobs over the years. She worked at the Moraine Nursing Home in Paola, KS, Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, OK and Coffeyville Regional Medical Center all as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. Then in 1987, Judy moved back to Osawatomie and started working at the Osawatomie State Hospital as a Mental Health Aide. She continued working for OSH for 15 years until she retired in 2002.

Family was #1 in Judy’s life. She enjoyed spending time with them and has left a Legacy with them. Judy’s hobbies include crafts, needle work, Devotionals and reading Christian Romance novels. She attended Paola First United Methodist Church. She helped with the Vacation Bible School and at the Clothes Closet.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include children Rhonda (Russ) Plute of Coffeyville, KS, Trish (Ken) Hubbard of Libby, MT, Lisa (William) Greenawalt of Cherryvale, KS and Randall Moraine of Paola, KS, Brothers Bob (Stanley) Cole of Osawatomie, KS, Bill (Diana) Cole of Bartlesville, OK and Mike (MaryAnn) Cole of Bartlesville, OK, Sisters Donna (Vernon) Prothe of Paola, KS and Kay (Neil) Frihart of Coffeyville, KS, Fifteen grandchildren Philip Hagebusch, Elizabeth Slane, Sarah Hammer, Matthew Plute, Rebecca Plute, Billy Tatum, Bryant Tatum, Audrea Williams, Jacob Hines, Emily Hines, Samuel Hubbard, Allyson Hubbard, Megan Pelton, Melanie Greenawalt and Jeremiah Greenawalt and 12 great grandchildren. Along with other family and friends.
