Judith Ann Hollinger age 83 died peacefully September 21 surrounded by family at North Point Nursing Home. Judy, as she was known, was born April 5, 1941, in Independence, MO., the second of three children to Glen Kuhn and Beulah Hazekbaker-Kuhn. Her father died in a work
accident in 1945 when Judy was only 4 years old.
In 1949 her mother married Loren Stewart and they moved to rural Paola, KS. Judy attended Paola schools and enjoyed cheerleading for the Panthers in Jr High and High School. At school she met her future husband Rex Hollinger. She graduated from Paola High School in the class of 1959. August 2, 1959 her and Rex married and made their home in Paola and raised 3 sons.
Judy worked numerous part-time jobs. The longest was clerical work for KCPL. Judy also loved spending time with her family. Their house was the hang out for many teenagers around the pool with their sons.. She later babysat with her grandchildren to help their working parents.
Judy is preceded in death by her loving husband Rex Hollinger and their middle son Randy Hollinger. As well as her mother, father, stepfather, brother (Gary Kuhn) and sister (Donna Kuhn).
Surviving are her sons Rick Hollinger and partner Bev Alkire and Rod Hollinger and wife Regina both of Paola. Four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Amy Verstraete husband Jake and children Raleigh and Paityn of Republic, MO, Chelisa Hollinger and partner Cory Medlin, children Brooklynn, Raylan and Maverick of Paola. Tylor Hollinger and Brett Hollinger both of Paola.
A private graveside service will be held at Miami Memorial Gardens rural Paola, KS on Saturday, October 19th. Both Rex and Judy’s ashes will be laid to rest together, next to their son Randy Hollinger.
