Karen Sue (Burnett) Anderson passed away on April 3, 2023 at her home. She was born to Robert Lloyd and Dorothy (Suddarth) Burnett on December 2, 1941 in Santa Monica, California. She was the only child of this union. Karen graduated in 1959 with the first class of Jefferson High School in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. After graduation, Karen moved to Kansas and lived with her grandparents, John and Effie Burnett. She went to work at Osawatomie State Hospital in July, 1959 until entering Nurses Training at St. Margaret Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas in 1961.
Karen married Charles Hampton in 1962. To that union 2 children were born, Charles Hampton Jr. and Kelly Hampton Callahan. This marriage ended in divorce in 1971.
Karen completed nurse’s training in 1964. She worked for the Spring Hill school district for a short time as the school nurse.
Karen began working at the Osawatomie State Hospital again in 1968 until her retirement in 1996. During that time she became a certified psychiatric nurse by the ANA in 1981. Karen married Bernie Weber in 1972 and gained 3 step-daughters; Vickey, Pam and Karen. She was widowed in 1982.
Karen married Terry Anderson in 1984 and gained a stepson, Jason. They made their home in Osawatomie.
Karen enjoyed going to craft shows with friends and completing crafts. She was a self taught knitter. Family get-togethers and her grandchildren’s sporting events were particular favorites, except football games: they were too cold! She enjoyed playing cards and board games. Mexican dominoes were a particular favorite. She liked to cook and try new recipes. Karen and Terry enjoyed going on many trips with the First Option Bank group.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Terry of the home; stepsister Nancy Rhoades of Arvada, CO; daughter Kelly (Ron) Callahan of Osawatomie, KS; son Charles Hampton, Jr of Topeka, KS, daughter-in-law Debbie Hampton of Garnett, KS and stepson Jason (April) Smith of Knoxville, TN ; Grandchildren - Tommy (Kayla) Callahan, Emily Hampton, Madelaine (Chris) Harvey, Sean (Alyssa) Callahan, Russell (Jes) Hampton, Cameron Hampton, Sean Smith, Chris (Rebecca) Smith and Gabriel Smith; and 6 great-grandchildren - McKinley, Maura, Thea, Jay, Cooper and Kai.
