Marilyn Evelyn Waddle

Marilyn Evelyn Waddle, 88, of Lane, Kansas died June 4, 2024 at Olathe Hospice House surrounded by her family.  Marilyn suffered a stroke on May 29, 2024.  Marilyn was born March 4, 1936 at home north of Lane.  Her parents were George Albert and Laura Evelyn (Dawson) Johnston. Her siblings were James Martin, Norman Lee, Vivian Irene and Wilma Marie.  She was married to Donald Hugh Waddle on November 8, 1952. They had 6 children including Donald James (Jackie), Marilyn Rae Coffelt (Mike Clark), George Burton, John Everett, Amy Careen and Owen Hugh (Rachel).  After the death of Donald’s sister Louise in 1971, two of her children, Tammy Jackson and Bob Wilt joined the Waddle clan.

Marilyn and Donald divorced in 1989 but continued to parent their children together.  Donald died on June 8, 2024 at home with his long-time companion, Dorothy Goudie.

Marilyn was active in the Lane United Methodist Church for many years and also attended the Osawatomie First Baptist Church in later years. Her faith was important to her and she had great spiritual strength.

Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her large family which included many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  She is survived by her children, Jim, Rae, Bob, Everett, Amy, Owen and Tammy.  Other family include Jon, Kathy and Jamesyn Waddle; Crystal, TJ, Jansen Norris, Bethany and Devon Whitmore; Lisa, Mike, Hank and Pierce Cannady; Rexann Chester; Jennifer and Tim Atkinson; Elizabeth, Travis, Megan and Wade Hall; Susan, Peyton and Addison Zenner; Ben, Amber, Alex, Jesse and Annabelle Coffelt; Steve Coffelt; Denise Waddle; Rick Egleston; Steven Herman; Amanda, Lucas, Lillee Herman, Emilee and Eloise Herman and Tommy DePriest; Cynthia and Paislee Pendleton; Sarah, AJ and Madelyn Williams, Alexander Waddle; Kelly Forbes and Ariahna Waddle; Shirley Mitchell, Travis Clark and Bobbi Wilt; Anthony Waddle, Eli, Alana, Ira, Owen and Iris Waddle; Hannah Waddle; Suzy, Jake, Lachlan, Nelly, Lucille and Mae Stroman; Rance Waddle; Lindsay, Jermaine, JJ, Jakoby, Jordyn and Jazzlyn Monroe; Courtney, Duane, Ellee, Keith and Haylee Crawford; Brendon Chrisjohn and Alison Peercy; Tyler Chrisjohn and Evelyn Louise Waddle-Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Evelyn Johnston, her brother, Norman Johnston, her sister Vivian (Johnston) Fuller and her son Burt Waddle.
