Mark Alan Ready age 67 of Osawatomie, KS died Wednesday December 26, 2018 at Miami County Medical Center.

Mark was born February 15, 1951 in Anthony, KS. He was the third of four sons born to Bruce Alan and Alice Lorraine (Finuf) Ready. He grew up in Anthony, where he attended school. Graduating with the Anthony High School class of 1969.

After high school, Mark attended Kansas State Teachers College now known as Emporia State University where he met Barbara Sheets. The couple married on June 2, 1973 in Newton, Kansas.

Mark earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Emporia State. He and Barb moved to Osawatomie and he started working for the Osawatomie State Hospital as a nurse’s aide. Mark then decided to go back to school to get his nursing degree. So in 1980, Mark attended Newman School of Nursing. He worked for the OSH for over 30 years before retiring. He then started teaching diabetes education to the patients at the hospital for 5 more years.

Mark was an avid wood worker. He enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles. Mark and Barb enjoyed traveling after they retired. Their favorite place to travel was the Rocky Mountain National Park. Mark also loved to cook. Around the holidays, Mark would cook for the patients at the hospital so that they could have a special meal.

Mark was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Anthony growing up but attended the Fontana Methodist Church in the recent years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Vick Ready and Lester Ready.

Survivors include wife of 45 years Barb of the home, brother Wesley Ready of Conway Springs, KS, Brother In law and sister in law Greg & Susan Tompkins, nephew and niece Robert & Francesca Hoch, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Along with other family and friends.
