Mary Louise Fortner age 62, of Osawatomie died Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Miami County Medical Center in Paola, KS.

Mary was born October 14, 1955 in the Phillipines the fourth of six children to Harold D. and Bertha E. (Robia) Elliott. She grew up in a military family and moved frequently until the seventh grade when the family settled in Osawatomie. She attended school in the Osawatomie school district and obtained her general education diploma.

Mary worked hard all her life to help provide for her family.  She was a med aide at Holiday Manor and also worked various other jobs including Sonic, Osawatomie Senior Center, the print room at the Osawatomie Graphic and Easy Shoppe. In 2001, Mary moved to Colorado where she lived and worked for nine years before moving back to Osawatomie in 2010.

Mary lived life to the fullest always smiling and loving unconditionally all those she cared for over the years.  Mary was blessed to be the mother to six children.  She capitalized on every opportunity to spend time with her family, and camping was everyone’s favorite.  She had a passion for creativity and enjoyed sewing and crocheting cute dolls.  Mary also enjoyed reading Louis L’Amour books, working on crosswords, word searches and coloring.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Elizabeth Gill and Barbara Elliott, and two sons Jason Scherman and Snowlee Mann.

Survivors include her children: James (Cindy) Fortner of Osawatomie, KS, Freddie (Erika) Mann of Paramount, CA, Bobby (Nichole) Mann of DeSoto, KS, Jennifer (Eric) Howell, Osawatomie, KS, two brothers: Harold Elliott of Leadfield, CO and Robert (Linda) Elliott of Indiana and sister Linda Kay Garrison of Eldora, IA. Grandchildren: Heidi Fortner, Josiah Fortner, Andrew Howell, Samuel Howell, Jackson Mann, Ella Mann, Nicholas Mann, Jason Mann and great grandchildren Piper, Karly, Landen, Linklon, Kalli, and Ryan, along with many other family and friends.
