Mary Lou Davey... Age 85

Mary Lou Davey age 85 of Osawatomie. Ks. passed peacefully, Tuesday August 16, 2022, at North Point Skilled Nursing Facility in Paola.
Mary Lou was born March 18,1937 in Winston, Mo. She was the oldest of seven children born to Bernley Eugene and Mary Francis (Alleman) Baxter. She grew up in the Winston area until she was in the sixth grade when they moved to the Plattsburg area for a couple years. Then they moved to the Fontana, Ks. area. She graduated with the Class of 1955 as Valedictorian of her class. She worked for the Five and Dime in Osawatomie, the Fontana Coop, Mode O’Day, Fixley Insurance, Schrader Insurance and as manager of Osawatomie Courts Apartments over the years.
On September 2, 1956, Mary Lou and Gordon Davey were united in marriage in the Fontana United Methodist Church. They made their home on a farm near Beagle, Ks, where they raised four children. Larry, Gayle, Robert, and Mark. They were married for 60 years before Gordon’s death in 2016.
Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, and crocheting. She was also very involved in 4-H as a community leader, project leader and took many trips taking 4-Her’s to many livestock judging events over the years. She was a member of the Beagle United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brother Bill Baxter, sisters Debbie Mangold and Karen Ohlmeier, brother -in- law Johnny O’Connor, and son -in -law Steven Inman.
She is survived by sons: Larry (Becky) Davey, Robert (Jackie) Davey of Osawatomie, and Mark Davey of Clayton, NC. and daughter Gayle Inman of Belton, Mo. Grandchildren; Brian (Angie) Davey, Mercedes (Clay) Roland, Shelby (Daniel) Crowley, Katelyn (Josh) Overbaugh, Josh (Sami) Davey and Kenzi and Kessa Davey. Great-grandchildren: Brooklyn and Brock Davey, Paxton, Connor, Kyson, and Olivia Crowley, Owen Overbaugh, and Texlyn Davey and baby boy Roland coming in January, sisters Sharon (Raymond) Dickerson, Nancy O’Connor, and Betty (Rolland) Prothe, brother-in-laws Rod Mangold and Lloyd Ohlmeier, and sister-in-law Rita (Bob) Crimm, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 2 – 3 pm. On Saturday, August 27 at the Beagle United Methodist Church followed by a memorial service at 3pm. A private burial will be at a later date. If you have a special memory, please write it down and bring it for us to read at another time
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in honor of Mary Lou to the Beagle United Methodist Church or the Miami County Cancer Society.
