Mary Maxine was born July 28, 1953, at Stockton, CA. She was the daughter of Henery Alfred Tanner and Mary Elise Eudoris (McIntire). She was raised in Missouri, moving to make her home in Osawatomie Kansas around 1972, she later returned to Drexel, MO, for a time. Until returning to Osawatomie in 2013, where she lived until her death Thursday April 1, 2021 at the age of sixty-seven.

She graduated from Drexel with the class of 1971. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Baker College May 2007.

Maxine was united in marriage to Larry Dean Johnson June 10, 1972 at Osawatomie Baptist Church. Together they had two sons, Jeremy Alan born March 31, 1976 and Jason Michael born May 17, 1977. That marriage ended in divorce.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Emmalyn Reece Johnson on April 30, 2012; father Henery Alfred Tanner, stepfather James Franklin Emmet, mother Mary Elis Eudoris McIntire Tanner Emmett, two infant brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her two sons, four granddaughters Josephine Abigail Johnson, Sophia Alexis Johnson, Rosalyn Amelia Johnson, Tennley Grace Johnson, two brothers and seven sisters.

Maxine was a devoted lifelong homemaker and was also employed at Osawatomie State Hospital, as an assembler at King Radio in Paola, manager of Paola Pizza Hut, assistant manager of Osawatomie Pizza Hut, Osawatomie Pet Clinic and as an insurance agent for RPI/Farmers insurance for 15 years.

Maxine enjoyed growing a multitude of plants, sewing, and genealogy researching Scotland roots. Her sons and granddaughters were her passion and she loved, attending sporting events, sleepovers, road trips and vacations with family and friends.

She will be sadly missed by all who know and loved her.
