Philip Andrew Dudley, age 58 of Osawatomie, KS died Thursday March 8, 2018.
Phil was born September 4, 1959 in Paola, Kansas. He was the youngest of five children born to Willard George and Julianna (Krevey) Dudley. He grew up in Osawatomie, KS, where he attended St. Philip Neri Catholic School and then Osawatomie Public Schools graduating in the Class of 1977.
After high school, Phil attended Fort Scott Community College and majored in Business. He then continued his education at Emporia State University majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Music. Throughout college Phil was a photographer and was active with local jazz bands. While attending ESU, he met Susan Utech and their adventures together began. They were united in marriage on July 23, 1983 in Herington, Kansas. Together during their 34 years of marriage they raised three amazing daughters, Alicia, Anna and Alison in Osawatomie, KS.
After graduating from college, Phil began work at the Sears store, followed by Brown’s Hardware in Osawatomie. After working a variety of jobs, Phil found his true calling as an Appraiser. Over the years he provided appraisal services for the counties of Miami, Lyon, Johnson and most recently Franklin County. Phil served on the Osawatomie City Council for six years and then was elected Mayor of Osawatomie from 2007-2013. Phil was honored as Mayor of the Year in 2009 by the State of Kansas. Phil did not know a stranger and many still endearingly refer to him as “Mayor Phil.”
Golfing was one of his favorite hobbies and he was an accomplished trumpet player. He was a member of the Band of OZ and the Twin Rivers Jazz Band. He coached his daughters in sports, and with Sue, they followed and supported their girls all over Kansas. His most recent passion was riding his motorcycle with Biker Babe Sue.
