Raymond Milton White

Raymond Milton White age 97 of Osawatomie, KS died Saturday May 6, 2023 at Vintage Park of Osawatomie.

Raymond was born August 9, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the second born of six children to Clark Hudson and Effie (Deyoung) White. He grew up at a boys home (The Drum Farm) near Independence, Missouri where he attended school. After high school, Raymond enlisted into the United States Marines. He was active during World War II. Then was honorably discharged in 1945.

Raymond then attended Iowa State University where he majored in agriculture. He earned his bachelor’s degree from ISU. He then went to work for Philips Petroleum. Over the 32 years, Raymond worked various jobs and he retired as a mechanic.

On September 12, 1953, Raymond and Delores Irene McKinney were united in marriage in Paola, KS. To this union came seven children; Cathy, Robert, Rayla, Wesley, Darryl, Margaret, and Bill. The couple made their home near Parker on a hundred acre farm north of the Parker high school corner. They moved there from a farm near Fontana in 1957.

In his free time, Raymond pitched horse shoes. He was 10 th in the nation at one time. Raymond also was a farmer. Whatever Raymond planted grew. He always loved animals, you name it he raised it, at one time having 6000 chickens. He was very active in the Nazarene Church. Raymond was a great husband, father, grandpa and friend.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Margaret Noel, great grand daughter Alexandria Hoke, his parents, brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Delores, sons; Robert (Pam) White of Kansas City, KS, Wesley (Marsha) White of Abilene, KS, Darryl (Janet) White of Parker, KS, and Bill (Kennett) White of Bucyrus, KS, daughters; Cathy (Gary) Hoke of Garnett, KS, Rayla (Mick) Atwell of Parker, KS and son-in-law Vernon Noel of Cadmus. Eighteen grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. Along with other families and friends.
