Richard Marvin Phoenix Jr.

Richard Marvin Phoenix, Jr., age 81, of Osawatomie, KS died Friday October 13, 2023 at Life Care Center of Osawatomie.

Richard was born January 3, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born to Richard Marvin Sr. and Yvonne Rose (Chambers) Phoenix. Richard attended St. Patrick's grade school, Central High School and Christian Brothers' High School in St. Joseph, MO.

In 1985, Richard started working for Pitney Bowes in City of Industry, CA. He worked as a Service Technician until retiring in 1997.

Richard married Ruby Farnsworth on September 11, 1965 in St. Joseph, MO. Together they had Michael, Patty, and Jennifer. The marriage ended in divorce. Then he married Kathy Langton on October 17, 1974 in Long Beach, CA. Together they had Melissa, Desere, Joshua, James, Brian, Marianne, and Lynsee. The marriage later ended in divorce. Richard lived in Riverside, CA until moving to the mid-west.

In his spare time, Richard loved genealogy. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Melissa Larrine Phoenix, his parents, and infant brother.

Richard is survived by his children; Michael (Judith), Patty, Jennifer (Dale), Desere (Michael), Joshua, James, Brian, Marianne (Stephen), and Lynsee (Travis); his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Kathryn Phoenix, nieces and great nieces in St. Joseph; 27 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren (with another expected in January 2024).
